Q. How can I obtain a concealed carry application?
A. Applications for concealed carry will be available at the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office beginning April 8, 2004.  Those who are interested may pick up an application at the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office located at 149 N. Sandusky St., Delaware, Ohio.
 
Q. During what hours can I  drop off an application?
A. By appointment only: Monday through Friday from 9:00am - 11:30am, and 1:30pm  -3:30pm.
 
Q. How much does a concealed carry license cost?
A. Initial License Fee - Non-refundable fee of $45.00 for individuals who have been Ohio residents for more than five years, if less than five years the fee is $69.00.

License Renewal Fee – Non-refundable fee of $45.00 for individuals who have been Ohio residents for more than five years, if less than five years the fee is $69.00.  

Replacement License Fee – Non-refundable fee of $15.00.

Temporary Emergency License Fee – Non-refundable fee of $30.00 for individuals who have been Ohio residents for more than five years, if less than five years the fee is $54.00.

 
Q. When should I take the necessary training?
A. Applicants must take the training before they can submit an application.  Furthermore, the training must have occurred within 3 years of submitting an application. 
 
Q. How do I find a licensed instructor?
A. You may contact your local firing range or the National Rifle Association at www.nra.org, for certified instructors
 
Q. Is the cost of the training part of the permit fee?
A. No
 
Q. Once I submit my application, how long will it take before I receive my permit?
A. Due to an expected high demand, it could take as long as 45 days to obtain a permit.
 
Q. Can I carry my gun anywhere I go?
A. No.  Weapons are prohibited at some locations such as schools and government buildings.  Businesses and private property owners are allowed to post signs prohibiting firearms on their property.  Also, employers will make the decision as to whether employees can bring guns to work.
