Delaware County Jail Director Named


Delaware County, OHIO – The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office has named Amy Hanes director of the Delaware County Jail. She has served as interim director since April.

Hanes is a 25-year veteran of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, retiring in 2008 as the director of the main jail in Columbus. She brings 25+ years’ experience to Delaware County, 24 of those years serving in leadership roles. She is a graduate of the FBI Academy Associates and has served as a guest instructor at the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami (Ohio) University.

“When you hire quality people, good things happen,” Delaware County Sheriff Russell Martin says. “She brings the skill set, personality traits, and leadership experience needed to run this Jail in the most professional and effective manner possible.”

Hanes earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University, and is a graduate of Whetstone H.S. in Columbus. Upon her retirement, she served as a volunteer missionary in Honduras. She is married with 4 children, 14 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
